Russell House...
...is a recently renovated Grade 2 listed house in the centre of the historic market town of Ludlow, with exposed original oak beams running throughout the house as well as original and newly fitted windows and features. The sights both in and outside the house are breathtaking including views of Whitcliffe and Clee Hill from the windows on the top floor. This lovely town house sits just off the beautiful terraced street of Mill Street and is just a stone's throw away from the town's shops, butchers, green grocers and pubs and is also just round the corner from Ludlow Castle.
The house will sleep up to 6 people comfortably. There are 3 bedrooms comprising of two twin bedrooms and one double en-suite. On the ground floor is a large, light and airy kitchen / dining area with seating that can accommodate up to 6-8 people. Whilst the rest of the house is carpeted throughout, this ground floor is beautifully tiled, emphasising the element of space. On the first floor there is a large, spacious living room with south facing view, a main bathroom and one twin bedroom. The top floor is a converted loft space with Velux windows letting in a great amount of light into the double bedroom (with en-suite) and other twin bedroom, both on this floor.
Much of the furniture and fittings in the house have been sourced and made locally, but also dotted around the house you will find other items and products that have been sourced from local producers and retailers including: artwork form local galleries, books, products and other items of interest that are all marked with notes that inform where they can be found in the unique small businesses of Ludlow. In addition, upon arrival you will find a gift hamper of useful perishables that you can find locally when you have found your way around town. This will include milk, eggs, coffee, tea (coffee and tea can be found in the foothills of Craven Arms - A little further that Ludlow but well worth the effort.) and the occasional sausage. Another item that you will find upon arrival is a folder that has a detailed listing of useful places and things to do during your stay. Of course we implore you to find and do things in your own time and way but we thought that we would reccommend some our favourite attractions of Ludlow including: shops, walking routes, places to eat, drink and visit, plus more.
the kitchen / dining room...
The open plan kitchen dining area is fastidiously finished with a rubberwood kitchen surface and dining table both hand crafted by a local timber merchant. It has wonderful arched windows and an upright piano.
The kitchen is fitted with modern amenities including a washer / drier, dish washer, electric cooker with oven / grill, extractor fan, microwave, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, fridge with icebox and (even) a kitchen sink. Plus, there is a stereo and television.
The dining room table seats up to 8 people with six dining room chairs and the provision of extra fold up chairs to accommodate extra people.
There is also a regulation fire sprinkler system installed with heat sensors connecting to the smoke alarms- so be careful not to burn your toast!
In addition to this (at an extra cost), there is also the option of hiring a highly reccommended chef to cater for you. Please enquire for further information.
the bedrooms...
Leading on from the landing on the first floor and up to the top floor, the elm stairs split into two stairways- one leading to the double bedroom and the other to one of the twin rooms. These bedrooms are divided down the centre of the roof space with original eaves featuring some of the exposed oak beams found throughout. The spacious double bedroom has a comfortable standard double divan bed with ensuite shower room including a heated towel rail. The twin bedrooms each have two single divan beds, however, there is the option to join them to make a double standard in each room. There is storage space for clothing in each of the bedrooms- chest of drawers in each of the twins and drawers plus hanging space in the double ensuite. The top floor twin room also has a small chest for extra storage. All bedrooms have side tables, bedside lamps, central heating and plug sockets. Upon arrival, fresh towels will be laid out on each of the beds.
